UNEARTHING THE RACIAL QUESTION

At an hour considered
unearthly
Lying wide awake this
earthling
Seeking to know why
unearthing
This cankerworm is
unhealthy
The lion sleepless in
limbo
Watching his dream
crumble
Was once the pride of
Africa
Morphed from prince to
pauper
How art the mighty
fallen
Tell it not in the city of
Berlin
The capital of the
empire
Where blacks sit on kegs of
gunpowder
And are racially
profiled
Justice and equality
denied.
